BLIND DATE WITH ICTUS AND PETER VERMEERSCH
'Blind Date' is a new concert concept in which the audience does not know in advance what will be played. Without prior knowledge about performers, composers and style periods, open-minded listening is encouraged. The element of surprise stimulates the curiosity of the audience, allowing them to fully surrender to the music at the moment itself. For the first edition of this listening experiment, Ictus and the Handelsbeurs put together a compilation of well-known and lesser-known works. Completely in line with the philosophy of the concert, these works were presented to the Ghent composer and musical glutton Peter Vermeersch without mention of title and composer and asked to make a selection from them. So a double 'blind date'. Throughout the evening, the identity of the works performed will be revealed in an original way, both for the audience and for the curator. Highly recommended for those who like to be surprised and enjoy challenges!
