Bettye Lavette

Bettye LaVette embodies soul, and does so with an insane sense of drama and a voice that has unseen control. Janis Joplin might have learned it from her. It may be called a blunder in music history that Bettye LaVette had to fight for more than forty years for her breakthrough.

Since her previous successful show at the Handelsbeurs in November 2008, this bold lady has certainly not stood still. In between constant touring, she sang Sam Cook's beautiful anthem 'A Change Is Gonna Come' live at the inauguration of President Barack Obama in 2009 and was accompanied live at several concerts by the fabulous Drive By Truckers.

< p>At the end of May 2010 she released her new CD 'Interpretations - The British Rock Songbook', on which she includes work by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd cover.

Country, blues, folk, pop jazz, gospel or R&B, from LaVette's mouth every style sounds like tearing soul. She often sings covers and is one of the few artists who manages to surpass the original time and time again. Two years later and with a lot of experience, they now provide the support act for the great Bettye Lavette. Ella Ray is still the group around front singer Tine Jagers who succeeds in transforming her own soul stirrings into fresh soul songs! It ranges from laid back soul to old school soul with even influences of hip hop and gospel. She is wonderfully supported by a very strong band & backing vocals. In the spring of 2011 they hope to enter the studio to record their first album...
