Wide range for gourmets

No band this time, but a label. Aspen Editions put itself on the map as a small, independent record house with beautifully designed releases. The music moves between jazz and improvisation, contemporary classical, pop or folk influences and electronics. This label night combines the album release of the Veder quartet with additional combinations between musicians from their stable.

Veder

Euphonium player Niels Van Heertum seeks peace and simplicity in his acoustic quartet Veder. He is joined by regular companion Ruben Machtelinckx (guitar) and the characterful brass pair Joachim Badenhorst (reeds) and Eivind Lønning (trumpet). After the debut Evergreen (2017), they present their second album. Veder brings subtly layered compositions and improvisations. The music flows and flows and has a striking openness, but still provides the necessary stimuli. It is music to be absorbed patiently, not an instant sugar rush.

Aspen Editions

Aspen Editions was founded by musicians Ruben Machtelinckx and Niels Van Heertum, together with writer Sanne Huysmans. They emphasize 'integral music' or music that falls outside traditional genre boxes. The projects with which Aspen collaborates stubbornly choose their own path. And that ambition pays off: the releases are always enthusiastically received at home and abroad.
