We first brought the Artis Quartet to the Handelsbeurs in February 2004 as a new stop on a tour that took them to the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Wiener Musikverein and London's Wigmore Hall. Then these Austrians performed a more traditional program with works by Mozart, Mendelssohn and Schumann. Now that they have become acquainted with our hall, the acoustics and the interaction with our audience, they have resolutely opted for a much more interesting program: they boldly link Mozart to Webern and Zemlinksy. In short, Viennese music with an edge.
