In 2001, the duo Hendrik Willemyns and John Roan created a gap in the music market under the name 'Arsenal' and immediately filled it again themselves . Unannounced, they delivered the music that everyone seemed to be waiting for. A flowing mix of pop, rock, world music and catchy dance beats. Arsenal immediately hit the mark with their debut album 'Oyebo Soul'. Songs like 'Mr. Doorman' still resonate through the collective memory. On the second album 'Outsiders', Arsenal presented 12 original pop songs, inspired by different cultures, while remaining true to the 'Arsenal sound'. Just like Massive Attack and Basement Jaxx, Arsenal has a nose for good voices. Hendrik and John are also supported on stage by various vocalists and a six-piece live band. Their third studio album, 'Lotuk', will be released on April 4. Hurry to the HA' to discover the music in person!
SUPPORT:Pete Philly & Perquisite
Medio In 2002, the Amsterdam producer Perquisite released his second album, the DOUBLE VISION EP: a collection of experimental jazzy beats with improvisations by David Kweksilber. Pete Philly was a rising star at that moment, due to his expressive style and melodic way of rapping. When he receives Perquisite's DOUBLE VISION EP through a friend, he calls him that same day. Perquisite's beats, heavily steeped in jazz, are grist to the mill of the English-language rapping Pete Philly. In April 2005 their first album 'Mindstate' was released. The album is unanimously praised in the national and international music press for the creativity of the beats and vocal lines, laced with jazz, soul and classical, and thought-provoking lyrics.
