An absolutely masterful new string quartet, built around violist Tabea Zimmermann, with Antje Weithaas (violin), Daniel Sepec (violin) and Jean-Guihen Queyras (cello) at her side. Arcanto made its debut in Stuttgart in June 2004 and immediately proved to be a hit. Concerts followed in halls such as the Beethovenhaus Bonn and the Théâtre du Châtelet. In the 2005/2006 season they will perform in the Alte Oper Frankfurt and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Wigmore Hall... and in the Handelsbeurs. When we discovered them, we were convinced after just thirty seconds of listening: Bartók's quartet finally played again as Sandor Vegh, point of reference for this oeuvre, would have dreamed it himself!
