Anna Vinnitskaya

It had been almost forty years since a woman won the Queen Elisabeth Competition for Piano. The title that Ekatarina Novitskaya won in 1968 went to the then twenty-three-year-old Anna Vinnitskaya in 2007. The victory gave her international breakthrough a boost. Her high-quality technique in combination with a strong musical personality makes her a world-class pianist. In this concert she guides us through three centuries of piano music. Bach's last partita, published in 1731, is known for its virtuoso, complex polyphony. With Mussorgsky we return to the home of Vinnitskaya, who has chosen a thoroughly Russian work with the Paintings Exhibition. Mussorgsky's drama and Vinnitskaya's temperament will undoubtedly create fireworks on stage. Ravel's sonatina is known for the balance between its clear, serene form and an experienced, deep melancholy.
