Tambour player Cemil Bey lived a century ago. His virtuosic innovations forever changed the face of Turkish music. The Istanbul Historical Turkish Music Ensemble remembers him on this Sunday morning with historicalphotographs, lively anecdotes and an effervescent concert.

The ensemble is not only active on stage; since their creation in 1991, they have also been involved in musical research with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Culture. As both historians and passionate musicians, they scrutinise age-old Turkish military music and religious Sufi music.
