10 jaar Ambrozijn

In 1996, the foundation for what is today Flemish folk pride was laid in café “Den Hemel” in Ghent. Tom Theuns (guitar, vocals), Wouter Vandenabeele (violin) and Wim Claeys (diatonic accordion) together form the group that is described by the English folk magazine 'fRoots' as "one of the finest European acoustic folk bands of our day". Ambrozijn does not only owe this praise to the seamless interplay. The group very carefully selected the best guest singers: Ludo Vandeau, Soetkin Collier, Vera Coomans, Sylvie Berger,... Current singer Tom Theuns uses his voice as an instrument and succeeds very well in capturing the emotions of the text to be enlarged in the song. Ambrozijn is folk with an edge. There is a light singer-songwriter vibe, occasionally a touch of tango, but above all a “joie de vivre” that is extremely contagious. Ambrozijn has been around for ten years now. They celebrate this at the Handelsbeurs, with a 12-piece string orchestra and a whole series of guest singers. Curious? Then don't lose sight of this website for a second!
