With Lies Steppe they will discuss how music connects, shapes or moves us. Double bassist Lara Rosseel provides the musical accompaniment.

London-based writer, radio producer and music journalist Kevin Le Gendre has focused on black music and culture - from soul and funk to hip-hop, jazz and Caribbean literature - for more than two decades. He has written for Echoes, Jazzwise, The Guardian, and the Times Literary Supplement, among others, and has made documentaries for BBC Radio.

In his diptych Don't Stop The Carnival and Children Of The Ghetto, he explores the history of black music in Britain.

From a social and historical perspective, he examines how black British artists have claimed their place - and how music has become both an artistic and political force field. An incisive look at the sound of migration, identity and community.
