Osama Abdulrasol: (In search of) New Flemish Masters

The fifteenth-century Franco-Flemish polyphonists are also known as the 'Flemish Masters'. Their music inspired composer Osama Abdulrasol to look for similarities between those Western and Arab traditions coming from his Arab background. Using beats and projections, he turns both cultures upside down.

It becomes an at times intense dialogue of kanun and lute featuring the beats of DJ Grazzhoppa and the electronics of Thomas Noël. Brooding soundscapes that take you either towards a trance or towards the dance floor. With the voices of Helena Schoeters and the impressive Arabic singer Khaled Al Hafez.

With this quest, the musicians continue the long line of Flemish artistic mastery, in their own (meaningful) way.
