With 'High Carbon' (October 2025, W.E.R.F. Records), Heleen Van Haegenborgh returns to her roots as a pianist. In a highly personal set, she weaves piano, electronics and her own sound techniques into a subtle, layered world. Every sound, every nuance bears her signature - from composition to performance.
Van Haegenborgh does not work with stories or styles, but with textures, energies and colours. Her unique inside piano technique of stretched strings, manipulated resonances and layered electronics forms the backbone of a concert in which no detail is accidental. At times the electronics merge with the piano to form a single fluid voice, at others they grate subcutaneously or idiosyncratically.
This solo project is a powerful statement from an artist reinventing her instrument, bringing together her trajectory as a composer, performer and sound architect into one intense listening experience.
With an unusual line-up of three double basses and a tuba, Mingo Rajandi unravels age-old stereotypes about women. What if the archetypal woman was not a shadowy figure but a hunter, a leader, an artist and a healer? Drawing on new scientific insights, she makes a striking and powerful musical statement about femininity and primal power.
Lady Sapiens is both a musical investigation and a powerful plea. Inspired by recent archaeological findings, Rajandi questions what is considered 'feminine'. Using the tuba and three double basses as her sonic base, she recovers forgotten voices from the distant past. A compelling, quirky concert that revisits history, questions the present and rethinks the future.
