“It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there”, Bob Dylan wrote with pain and regret in his heart, but with a longing and excitement for the possibility of something new. Making music together always feels new. Let us create beautiful moments. And music. A little laughter. Because... We are not really afraid of the end. We're just afraid of fear itself.
Cabana Belgicana is a group of friends who make music together and sometimes weave a story into it. Johan Heldenbergh and Roland are supported vocally and musically by musicians who embrace them warmly.
This time they set out to make music about an end and about the end. Everything comes to an end, happy things and sad things, happiness and unhappiness and life.
Cabana Belgicana
Johan Heldenbergh (cf The Broken Circle Breakdown - guitar, banjo, mandolin and vocals), Roland Van Campenhout (the blues in person - guitar and vocals), Sara De Smedt and Nils De Caster (the Robert Plant and Alison Krauss of Flanders - on piano, keys and vocals + violin, mandolin, guitar and vocals), Bart Vervaeck (pedal steel and electric guitar), HT Roberts (bass) and David Broeders (drums), Ruud Van Claerenberghe and Nele Vanraepenbusch (technique)
Parting is hard Yes, but... Nothing remains. Nothing... Everything ends.
Fortunately... Eternity is torture.
Would you wait for a tram forever?
Could you stare into the beautiful eyes of a young lover forever?
Eternity is infinity on the axis of time.
And... Infinity does not exist. On any axis.
The word 'peace' would not exist if 'war' never existed.
The word 'light' would not exist if there had never been 'darkness'.
What would 'love' be without 'farewell'?
What would 'life' be without 'death'? Real death.
Life would have no value.
We would be better off embracing the 'moments'.
And the dying of moments. Because even bad moments die.
Age is nothing more than a slow compulsion to accept the end.
For some this acceptance comes faster than for others.
And then there's 'laughter'....
Because isn't it fun to see everyone getting so worked up?
All those weird, busy people fighting a losing battle every day against chaos, absurdity and the end of things.
