Twelve years after their first trio album, saxophonist Nathan Daems, drummer Lander Gyselinck and double bassist Marco Bardoscia reunite. They explore how they have evolved as musicians and people, with a new, in-depth exploration of Indian classical music through the prism of jazz.
Ragini Trio translates the traditional tabla-flute-tampura arrangement into a contemporary version full of imagination, craftsmanship and joy of playing. Nathan Daems (Black Flower, Echoes of Zoo) has been immersing himself in oriental music traditions for years, incorporating them in his own idiosyncratic way on the saxophone. Lander Gyselinck (STUFF., Lander & Adriaan) is a rhythmic powerhouse who adds personal colour to complex Indian rhythms. Marco Bardoscia (Paolo Fresu) connects both musicians with groove and melody on the double bass.
Their new work was created in the spring of 2025 during residencies at Ha Concerts and De Singel and represents a new chapter in their quest.
